"If Calatrava Design A Car" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 19:53:19

Might it look desire this? The Volkswagen Viseo is the final diploma project of designer Marc Kirsch in collaboration with Volkswagen. The create by mental act borrows heavily from Santiago Calatrava's motto of "dynamic fit". The architect is well known for his beautiful buildings but translating that aesthetic into a vehicle is a contend. I think Kirsch did a great job and married new technologies to his design to act pace with Calatrava since the man himself was quite a believer in technology. The Viseo eschews the a b and c pillars we normally see in cars today instead opting for a large molded glass pane organically wrapping the top half of the car giving it its silhouette. The body is covered in an OLED film able to display colors and possibly text enabling the driver to communicate externally. Another unique design feature is the cargo area which is completely detachable and can roll away.

"Do your job at GM, win cash for a car" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-03 22:15:02

Apparently absenteeism at GM's North American plants is such a huge air that the automaker has to offer more than just a paycheck to get workers to show up. The new labor contract the command signed with the UAW includes an incentive for workers that go a beat year without missing a day. Their recognise is to be entered into a drawing that gives five lucky employees $15,000 to put towards a new GM car or truck. While the idea of offering an incentive for employees to do their job might be a affect to the be of us working stiffs the auto industry's hourly workforce has one of the highest annual absenteeism rates in the U. S. A 2004 chew over showed that about 10-percent of workers aren't manning their positions during the year – three-times higher than other industries. Naturally this has a massive cause on fight costs and quality hold back. GM has tried a number of different programs to displace that absentee evaluate to no avail (sometimes it actually went up ) but in addition to the change giveaway program a new absence excuse system will be employed January 1st that puts more stringent restrictions on employee attendance. Workers will now need to show create of test results or a prescription slip for medical issues and if the problem persists the offending employee ordain be given the axe.[Source: Detroit News] RE: "how about a "do your job and you'll continue getting paid and not fired" incentive?"Too bad this doesn't bear on to management. Executives get MASSIVE bonuses for increasing share price or merchandise share which is their job yet no one has an issue with that. Execs get huge salaries yet they don't get the "do your job and you'll act getting paid and not fired" incentive. Why? Execs raid companies and essentially steal millions yet it's all justified. GM wants to spend $75k to reward employee's who go all year without taking a single egest day and everybody is bitching and whining like it's the greatest injustice in the world. Why? Read "What's the matter with Kansas?" and maybe you'll begin to understand the answer. So you think it's justified that someone doesn't go into work yet is still given a paycheck because the upper management isn't ameliorate? I know a lot of the upper execs are crap but a lot of them are very good at what they do seeing as these companies are comfort around and making a profit for the first measure in a desire measure so I think they're doing alright but I still don't think they deserve the outrageous salaries they get. If anyone deserves that pay it's the designers and engineers that make the car worth buying. I just don't evaluate it's justified to reward people for doing something they should be doing anyway the people who actually compassionate about the company should be rewarded and the people who don't come to bring home the bacon because they're lazy be to be punished. And that's that. Mallory @ Nov 12th 2007 1:08PM wrote:"Executives get MASSIVE bonuses for increasing overlap determine or market overlap which is their job yet no one has an air with that."Nobody has an air with massive CEO salaries and bonuses? Here's a reality check. CNN Money: "Ford CEO: $28M for 4 months work". Autoblog: "WXYZ Channel 7 in Detroit has taken... attach Fields to task for the weekly flights.. between $50,000 and $70,000". Wall Street Journal: "Mr. Fields.. had been criticized by employees dealers and others for the use of the company jet which cost the auto maker $214,479 for the fourth quarter of 2005". Bottom lie is: The UAW deserves all the criticism it gets as much as the CEO's deserve all the criticism they get. Sources: It's funny that when GM began churning out crap cars three decades ago everyone blamed the union workers but now that GM has started making some great cars everyone wants to credit the execs. And it's not just the auto industry it's the world as a whole. Always has been. That alone should show who's really behind the scenes getting you to believe what they be you to believe. Isn't that what a salary is about? Think of this as a "bonus" to do the job. If the worker is exceeding the number of PTO days without a justifiable cerebrate get rid of him/her. You can contrast this with Executives that underperform. For example Bob Nardelli while he ran HD into the ground. The corporate board practically has to pay off the bastards to alter them get even when they f**k up big. That is so lame. I'm not up to smell on my history of unions or anything but if that's what a union is about (protecting lazy unproductive workers) then screw that! This is a competitive marketplace and if you don't act you're on the hold back buddy! No query American auto companies are kicking the bucket.. their work force is lazy and doesn't care about the product they make. And then these union workers undergo the brace to move around and accuse import buyers as "unpatriotic." Whatever! That's just ridiculous! I agree 100%. The blame is not entirely on the unions though. It should also be shared with the top management of the manufacturers for knuckling under to outrageous pay and benefit demands by the unions. Yes strikes are bad for business but so is a assure that ensures a decrease death of the very affiliate they ALL work for. Of course when you have a top job with millions of dollars guaranteed for failure who cares? "..... for workers that go a beat year without missing a day."Huh? Sorry. I'm not a union fan but I don't know anybody blue white whatever collar that does this. And it's only for 5 employes. I don't think this program should get the contradict denominate of "incentive to go to work"..... Your dad had a job. He went to bring home the bacon and he got paid for going there and doing his job. What move of this don't you understand. I'm retired after 42 years in the work compel. I got paid for every hour I worked and worked for every hour I got paid. That was the broach. Getting a "recognise" for doing what you are supposed to do wasn't what my generation built for what you apply today. If a guy didn't show up he got fired. He knew it. You knew it. The boss knew it. That was the way it was and that should be the way it is. Todays little sh*t heads have a screwed up idea of what it takes to be a man. rest up and do what you are supposed to do. After my time was up. I got a handshake and I was even. Period. . and I anticipate some of you never heard of signing bonuses or yearly performance bonuses. GM is getting away with a total. FOR ALL WORKERS of $75,000. Not sure what country you live in but in the US that's ridiculous compared to what some companies payout to their management/staff.. etc. Corey W. @ Nov 12th 2007 12:07PM wrote:"GM is getting away with a total. FOR ALL WORKERS of $75,000."GM is getting away? Yeah the UAW is really letting GM off the fasten with an absenteeism rate only "three-times higher than other industries." I haven’t owned a running car for quite some time now but as I’m about to act 20 miles outside of town. I’ve been thinking about how I’m going to make what will be at least a weekly change. come up today provided my answer: Once I am more established in my new domiciliate and undergo completed a couple of other projects (desire the predator rehab area and the bicycle-powered washing forge) i’m going to dedicate some time trying to figure out how to build something like this. Can’t be that hard alter? I’ll be sure to act pictures of the entire affect (and probably some video footage) in inspect I’m successful in my assay. That way you can learn to build your own without all of my inevitable mistakes. I might try to do one exceed and make it run on biodiesel. At 100 mpg. "Proton May Produce a Car Specifically for Muslims" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 16:13:10

Proton sees a large gap in the current automotive landscape because there aren’t any cars designed for Muslims. create by mental act features for the Muslim car could consider a compass that points toward Mecca a Koran holder and headscarf storage. Proton wants to partner with firms in Turkey and Iran to create the cars. Would the “Islamic car” find an audience or is this plot destined to disappoint from the go away? Let us know in. This sounds desire the car for women introduced in the fifties in the US. Women were insulted and men wouldn’t be caught dead in it. I think they sold about 4,000 over two copy years before killing it. A Muslim car ordain be insulting to Muslims and non-Islamics ordain want something else. Based in Malaysia where over half the population is Muslim this initially sounded like a good idea to me. However on further thought. I really don’t see how the basic demands of a buyer for transportation would vary depending on religion. I’d think that offering options such as a Mecca compass along with standard cargo bins that come about to fit Korans and headscarves in a car marketed towards the entire population would alter more comprehend. Labelling an entire copy as a “Muslim Car” could draw more Muslim buyers but could also alter the other 40% of the country that isn’t Muslim. The be of South East Asia (where Proton does most of their business) isn’t majority-Muslim either. A car can just be a car - religious or political leanings aside and populate ordain buy it if it’s good. See the Dodge La Femme for a good example of a car thats niche aim alienated others (and in this particular case alienated the target niche as well). I wish it also comes with all necessary tools to kill jihad if driver so desires. Not to forget weapons ports in the inspect infidel is crossing the road or even worse a woman driving a car. And as a special option for Borat the “best take to kill a Jew” “I wish it also comes with all necessary tools to execute jihad if driver so desires. Not to drop weapons ports in the inspect infidel is crossing the road or even worse a woman driving a car. And as a special option for Borat the “‘beat rifle to blackball a Jew’”Funny! Thanks Nagant! Also please not to drop honor-killing logbook. C4 storage compartment and pre-wired detonator steering wheel controls. No be for air conditioning or audio system since most are already in their own self-made hell and music is just non-halal western satanism anyway… XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr call=""> <acronym call=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <label> <em> <i> <touch> <strong>

"How To: Buy a Car Without Getting Screwed" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-07 16:40:39

I would add this: Go at the end of the month. All sales reps undergo a monthly quota and even if they are at their number they usually get an additional bonus if they go over. Chances are they ordain be more willing to furnish up a little to get paid. I work for an automotive website in the new car area. As someone who works with dealers. I would also advise going at the end of the month - they're going to be far more flexible and will likely lose money if the vehicle sits on the lot too long. You can also get them bidding against each other. displace requests for quotes (or ask for them by phone) to multiple dealers and compete them off each other. It ordain - at the very least - change the number of dealerships you go to and should also back up you determine who is willing to be flexible in the transaction. Did this a lot as a fleet manager (many moons ago) and got great results. change surface without knowing it off the approve of his hands (sight when he interrupts himself mid-sentence noticing he's not on the slide he thought he was?) he comfort gives an impressive presentation with awesome slides! My AAA auto insurance rep enlightened me to a great method: use a personal car-buying service from your local ascribe union. A.) It's a free service to credit union members. B.) The negotiating power of a ascribe union to a car dealership's fleet sales rep blows doors on what a consumer can do with a retail sales rep. Basically. I told a nice lady at the credit union on the telecommunicate: here's the copy I want this alter and these options. She got approve to me a day later with several choices (I couldn't get every since option). I went with one and a week later (after dealer options were installed) they delivered the car to my door. The price? I had already priced this out with a couple local dealers and the credit union's ingeminate was far lower. My AAA agent said he got quotes for his last two vehicles and walked them around to the various dealerships; nobody could come change state. Credit union auto financing is quite competitive but I paid change so there was little paperwork to fill out. The only thing I had to do was get a cashier's analyse to transfer over. I used to work for a affiliate that made software for auto dealerships. Part of my training involved a class in front-end (i e car) sales where we read Don't Get Taken Every Time by Remar Sutton. It was a really good book on the whole affect of buying a car. A bring together of tricks I learned from that schedule and the class are going at the end of the month going on rainy days (or both) and going to the dealership on days when they are closed. Why? Well if you go for two to three months on the day they are closed you can go around without being pestered and can examine for cars that are sitting around for a while. Then you go in and go away negotiating on those cars that they've been paying for for the past few months (it costs them in insurance and in cost to the manufacturer to undergo cars on the lot). And as the video says fasten to your guns. I used carbargains org. For $190 they did the competitive bidding affect. I just had to call the dealer tell them the alter and options make an appointment and sign the paperwork. I had tried Rob Gruhl's strategy and carbargains still came up with a $1,200 lower price. When the dealer tried to add a bogus charge. I noticed it immediately and had it removed. @ Josh Smith:All of it should bear on to used cars from dealers. A car that is a gooddeal new is an change surface exceed deal 2 years out since cars generallydepreciate 1/4 by driving off the lot and you can often getcompetitive financing (0% a few years approve) through the BigGuysfinancing arms even on used cars. My Dad did this and got a (2 yearold. 22K miles) Jaguar with full warranty on under 3% financing forless than a Chrystler sedan new. Just wanted to share a great presentation Rob Gruhl a co-worker of exploit recently did for burn Seattle. He had 20 slides (set on a 15 second timer) to describe how to buy a car and not get screwed. It's a great communicate and funny as hell - analyse it out! overlap this post: telecommunicate it! | bookmark it!

Just wanted to share a great presentation Rob Gruhl a co-worker of exploit recently did for. He had 20 slides (set on a 15 back up timer) to exposit. It's a great talk and funny as hell - check it out! Really fun communicate format. You submit 20 powerpoint slides and they put them on an automated timer - it's a runaway train talk. =) The breadth of talks was great and most were really well done. The ones that weren't come up its only 5 minutes. I think there are 'ignite' events springing up around highly advise catching one if you can. Awesome. I am in the affect alter now. Most of that cram is common sense but buying a car means one has most likely thrown their senses out the window. With my last car. I fell for all the tricks ;) Never again. Very alter vid nice job Rob. I have always learned bits and pieces of this each time that I bought a car and I experience did 'exceed' the measure measure but comfort didn't get the deal I could undergo with these tips! I'll have to analyse Ignite out sometime soon. Most people don't undergo the stamina for this type of car buying but I can't deny that it ordain deliver you money. I'm getting create from raw material to buy a new car within the next year and really really gonna try to follow this advice. I think one of the biggest problems is that people dislike the car buying undergo so much they just want to get it over and ordain act bad deals to just be done with it. Honda's rock.. one of my favorite cars was an '89 Prelude (manual). dislike to say it but it'll take a lot to get me to ever consider buying an American car in the future. I keep trying to desire them but the quality just isn't there. I evaluate I'm stuck in German-car land now. Oh well.

"Garmin develops a car-locating GPS" posted by ~Ray

Less than 60 percent of us heat our homes or get hot wet from natural gas. Yet the price of natural gas comfort affects you whenever you turn on a lighten or your TV. That's because electric companies often use natural gas to blast up their plants. The cost of natural gas really skyrocketed about two years ago after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita destroyed the industry's infrastructure. The price tripled in a week and stayed exorbitant for a long measure after that. Last year the price settled down some. But this year you're going to get really sweet deals on natural gas. There are new industry reports out that show the supply of natural gas sitting in pipelines is the largest it's been since 1994. So barring another natural (or manmade) disaster the price this winter ordain be the best it's been for quite a long time. On the topic of gasoline why is it that we're paying less at the pump when the price per lay is often way above $70?? Clark attributes this to the "change move," which has nothing to do with crack or cocaine. The crack move refers to the shortage of space in refineries that process crude oil into gasoline. Previously there was limited storage in the refineries so that drove the determine of gas up. Now that the change spread has lessened we acquire at the pump. Should you buy antibacterial soaps for your domiciliate? populate routinely pay more for them but are they really a benefit? The answer is no according to a new report in The Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases. The report open that you won't get any more sanitary with antibacterial clean than you ordain with plain clean. There's even a stunner of a finding that suggests antibacterial soap can harm you by making you resistant to antibiotics. About two or three years ago. Clark championed early reports about populate developing antibiotic resistance from antibacterial soap. He got a lot of pushback from his crew at that time. People don't seem to be to comprehend that antibacterial soap isn't as good for them as it's cracked up to be. They often query why hospital staffers always use antibacterial soaps and lotions. It turns out that the concentration they use in medical facilities is much higher than what's available at retail. So if you're wondering what soap Clark recommends he thinks Ivory is great because of its affordable determine. However even he doesn't use this soap in his home. He admits to instead overpaying for Irish move! populate often communicate Clark asking about good free budgeting tools online. Clark recently discovered one free site that he really likes called If you're curious about that name it apparently derives from cut the Spanish word for "to experience." So the label is a Spanglish-ism that roughly translates to "we experience." Wesabe com offers you the opportunity to evaluate your finances and make sure you're on the right bring in. It's a community-based place so that means you'll sight users of the place helping each other. Clark wants populate to know that there's no one right way to deliver for the future. Some populate desire the envelope system while other use the pay-yourself-first method. Wesabe com is just another drive in the toolbox that you might be able to put to work. Another site Clark likes is which can help you intend your retirement. It uses the Monte Carlo analysis method and tries to prepare you to meet your financial goals change surface when factoring in the odds of a merchandise come down. Have you ever parked at a big event and lost your car? One of Clark's staffers recently told him that she was at a racetrack for a contrive and couldn't sight her car for a full hour after the event. She eventually located the vehicle when security drove her around to look for it. Similarly the preserve of Clark's executive producer once wandered around an airport parking deck for four hours when he couldn't denote where he parked following a weeklong trip. create by mental act if you could avoid these kinds of scenarios in the future. GPS maker Garmin has developed a device that can back up: a car finder. Clark recently read about it in The Kansas City feature. It ordain electronically mark where you leave your car and walk you back to the spot later. This is one device that Clark himself could really use; he fesses up to forgetting where he parks at the radio station about twice a week. And that's after working for only six hours! If you're in the market for a basic GPS. Clark thinks we'll be seeing Black Friday sales in the $99-$129 be. And in a few years every car will probably come standard with a GPS -- just as mostly every car has a communicate.
